The "Daily Moose" makes a another brief return; Martina cooks some Abby-quality hashbrowns

Last night, I briefly stepped out of my office, passed through the near corner of our packed garage in which no car has ever parked and went on into the living room and kitchen to eat some fruit. There were two moose in the back yard. A cow and this, her yearling calf.

Jimmie, my good black cat, got pretty agitated and wanted to go out, stalk, chase, pounce and rip apart but I kept him inside.

This morning I went to Abby's about 8:00 AM. Regular readers will recall how, not long before I left on my last trip north, Abby had changed her weekday morning hours from a 9:00 AM opening to 7:00 AM. I have been happy about this as there have plenty of mornings I have been up early and wanted to go Abby's but could not because she hadn't opened up yet and so ate Cheerio's or oatmeal or went somewhere else instead.

Now, I can go to Abby's on such mornings and I am happy. The downside has been that Abby does not come in until the early morning shift, comprised of Martina, is over. Martina does a good job, but Abby is Abby and no one else can quite match her. Yet, this morning, Martina's hash browns tasted as though Abby had made them herself. "These hashbrowns are as good as Abby's!" I complimented. This is how she reacted. Martina is learning from the master and may yet become a master herself.

As I ate my breakfast, a snowplow passed by out on Seldon Road.
