Jobe thinks my prized airplane collection is made up of toys!

Naturally, we turned on my electric HO train and sent it running around the top of my office. Jobe then went straight for my airplanes and started to play with them under the neon light. I cannot convince him that these planes are not toys but rather a prized collection not to be handled roughly. He insists they are toys, meant to be played with. And how can I who also loved to play with airplanes and still love little airplanes and big airplanes and all airplanes, stop him from doing so?

I had to turn down Jobe's generous offer of chips

We have just arrived home after finishing off our most expensive meal of the year. Grand total: $19,289.42. It'll take me 92 years to pay this off. When we got home we found not just a toddler, but his two older brothers and his parents. Ever since Caleb started working for Frito Lay, there has been an overabundance of outdated yet still good chips around the house. Jobe had a bag. "Want some, grandpa?" he asked. I had to turn him down. My tummy feels kind of queasy.

In case anyone is wondering, those dark marks on his arm are Alaska Railroad tattoos from our Saturday train/fair excursion.

Jobe insists on getting into the wrong car

We begin with a slight dispute. Jobe sees me pull in and get out, and immediately climbs into my car. His mom says we are going in her car. No, He wants to go ingrandpa's car and he stubbornly stays in grandpa's car. Then I get into his mom's car, Kallb gets into his mom's car. Suddenly, Jobe gets a panicked look on his face as if he is about to get left behind. He hurries out of my car and comes to mom's car, leaves the door on my car open. I go close it. We are now on our way to the train station and then on to the fair! Jacob is driving. #alaskastatefair

Normal?

This is right now. I am in my office, sitting at my desk. Jim has positioned himself in his usual spot between my keyboard and my monitor, doing his best to make me more effective and efficient in my work. It would appear that all has returned to normal, yet there is no normal. So I guess it's pretty normal after all.

Blurry double grandson reunion: Lynxton laughs, Jobe inspires me to buy a new plane

Since returning home, I have so far spent about 5 minutes in the presence of two of my three grandsons - when I took Margie in to Anchorage to babysit and then picked her back up again. Here is a blurry Lynxton with his dad looking on.

Here is the second blurry grandson photo - Jobe and Dusty. I liked the toy airplane, "Dusty," from the movie "Planes" so much that when I left I headed straight to Target, where Margie told me they are sold. I thought I might buy the whole set, but they cost $5.99 each, so I only bought two, Dusty and the Corsair. Odds are I will wind up with the full set yet. Airplanes are irresistible to me - even toy airplanes. Kalib was at day care, so I did not see him.
