Fox runs into house, jumps on bed, gets into jalapenos, devours the chips and dip: plus more Fox news, including iPhone take

Today, I opened the front door and Fox ran in. He headed right to the guest bedroom and proceeded to bounce on the mattress our grandsons sometimes sleep on.

I took Fox to Jalepenos Mexican Restaurant after that. Once, in an Ethiopian restaurant, the food was so hot it made him cry. He had no problems with the chips and salsa dip.

He colored for a short time, then switched his attention to the iPhone. Fox's little fingers tapped the phone with such accurate rapidity as to leave me stunned, breathless and jealous.

Here is Fox again, running through our living room in front of his mom, Jesse, and his dad, Ryan L'Herault and Melanie.

Here are all four of them, posed for the mandatory hallway shot. Melanie first met Ryan when she was a student at UAF. They became boyfriend and girlfriend. She went off to study in the UK for a year and after just one semester he followed her there.

In time, they went their separate ways. Ryan grew up in Talkeetna but his dad is Canadian and he has dual citizenship. After UAF, he moved to Canada, got together with Jess, who is Canadian, made baby Fox, got married and now they live in Calgary.

They all remain good friends, and that includes Charlie, too. We loved Ryan back then and we love him now and are always glad to see him - and his new little family.

Ryan, Jess and Fox had been visiting his mom in Talkeetna but needed to go to Anchorage. Ryan's mom works in Wasilla so they all drove in together in her car and then Ryan, Jess and Fox spent most of the day visiting us, until Melanie could get off work, drive out here to the valley, pick them up and take them back to Anchorage with her.

Goodbye, Fox. Goodbye, Jess. Goodbye Ryan. Goodbye, Melanie. See you all again soon, I hope.

Now... I had been planning to start my year wrap-up today. I thought I would do this by running a few of the many pictures and stories I did not manage to blog when they happened. This kind of thing happens to me constantly, wherever I am - be it here at home, Arizona, India, the Arctic and anywhere else I happen to go. I'm posting this early, so maybe I can still start tonight.

Probably, though, given all the things competing for my time right now, I won't get around to it until tomorrow. Then I will probably post no more than five percent of what I had hoped to post.

Absolutely unfair - Look at those fabulous eyelashes on Fox. Should have been me. :( :-) Sigh!
