Chili or warm? A matter of perspective and timing

I mentioned the chill in the air. Still, it remains quite warm for this time of year. If I had awoken to such a day in late September – and I actually did awaken to such days and even chillier days back then – I would have said, "feels like winter is coming on." Today I say, "I wonder if winter will come at all this year?

From the time of color to the time of gray

As you can see, we have suddenly gone from the bright time of golden leaves to the time of bare gray. Yes, leaves still hang on here and there and a few well protected or rather stubborn trees do still cling to their mantles of gold, but, for the most part, the colors are gone, the dead leaves have fallen. Leaves will not be back probably until mid-May. Then they will be green - fresh green and the world will be a refreshed place, about to burst forth in a wide array of new life and limitless possibility.

Bogged down on the final post of my Return to India series, I turn to birch trees

 

 

Oftentimes when I blog, I place the pictures and then, having no idea at all what I am about to say, I write just as fast my fingers can pound the keyboard. For the final narrative post of my Return to India series, I knew exactly what I wanted to say. I started working on it yesterday evening, thinking I would whip right through it in an hour, maybe two.

I then worked on it at a crawl and slog late into the night and all day today and tonight, too. I am bogged down, unhappy with much of what I have written. I am going to put it aside and try again tomorrow.

For now, here are some trees from this afternoon - about to explode into the color green.
