A pirate came to our house on a scorching hot Father's Day (at least one more post still to come in Katie John series)

There are two reasons why I should not be putting this post up tonight: I am only supposed to post on Wednesdays and, two, due to the historical import of Katie John, I have already made one major exception and I still have at least one more post, maybe two, to put up in the series.

Yet... today was Father's Day. It was another, very rare, scorching hot day here in Southcentral Alaska. It was a wonderful day. And everybody came out, except for Rex, who is working in Kodiak and Cortney, who is in Washington state.

So here it is, my post about the 85 degree Father's Day in Wasilla, Alaska, that is about to come to an end, beginning with this picture of Melanie and Jobe. Jobe came out with one purpose in mind - to mow his grandparent's weeds on Father's Day.

Lynxton came out to play in the dirt and eat a Popsicle.

Lisa and Bryce came out to wish me happy Father's Day and to eat a lot of food. Lisa is on crutches, having mysteriously injured her knee. She is pretty bummed out about it, as she had planned to do a lot of hiking in the mountains this summer.

The fedora is not hers. It is Jobe's. Somehow, it got stuck in the middle of a rose bush pile, but then got rescued. Lisa likes fedoras and so put it on.

Kalib came out as a pirate. He scanned a distant ship as Jobe oared their own pirate ship towards one kind of dangerous encounter or another.

Lavina cooked the bread...

Many good foods went onto the grill, including hot dogs and a salmon Melanie and Charlie had caught. Melanie grilled the salmon and helped Lavina with the above as well.

Lynxton decided the back door porch window needed some snot on it. He did not wait for someone to tell him what to do. He pitched right in and snotted that window all on his own.

Jobe heard a spooky voice call out to him from the woods. He looked to see who or what it was, but could see nothing.

Puzzled, he turned back to look at us. Out in the woods, a head popped up and called to him again.

In the instant it took for Jobe to turn and look back, whatever it was disappeared. True, readers can see Bryce as he drops back behind the bushes, but remember, Jobe is at a lower angle and so cannot. This went on for awhile and I could certainly prove it, but I think three pictures of this kind of nonsense is enough.

Charlie was the last to come and the first to go, because he has a dad, too. Here he is, about to go.

There goes Charlie.

Jacob, Lavina and Jobe decided to leave next. A dangerous pirate joined them in the car.

Monica came out to see if the pirate would commandeer the car.

Jacob and Lavina drove off with Jobe, Muzzy and the pirate, without incident. Muzzy, btw, celebrated his 9th birthday yesterday.

Then Lisa and Bryce left. Lisa's car is not working so they borrowed Melanie's car.

Melanie is caring for Kingston and Akiak, Rex and Cortney's dogs. Now it was time for the dogs to go home.

Melanie drove off in Cortney's car with the dogs as Lynxton watched through tears with deep regret. He wanted to be in that car with the dogs. Instead, he is spending the night with us. Otherwise, I would have to get Margie into town by 7:30 AM tomorrow to resume her babysitting duties.

That is just too damned early.
