Jobe wakes up
Here is Jobe asleep in the middle of one of the nights the boys spent with us last week. Remember, this is Alaska, it is May and while we don't have the 24 hour sun here in Southcentral that now rules the sky over the Arctic Slope, light lingers through even the darkest hour of the night.
I am not quite half-way through the period between Wednesday and Wednesday - the one day of the week I now allow myself to post. But two things have happened. One, last Wednesday, I mentioned I did not post this series of Jobe waking up, but might. This was followed by thunderous demand (Michelle) that I post the pictures, "dang it!" Plus, tonight I find myself burned out. Since Thursday, I have been trying to narrow down the images for one particular section of Uiñiq - probably the biggest single section - and I estimate I can use about ten images in it.
Right now, I have it narrowed down to about 250 images, I have made all sorts of experiments and my mind has just hit the wall and gone blank. So I will put it aside for tonight, post Jobe waking up, sleep on it, and then discipline myself tomorrow and finish the initial draft of that section of layout.
These days, when the boys stay here, Jobe sleeps in the king bed with me, Kalib sleeps in the twin at the foot of the bed and Margie and Lynxton sleep in the guest room. You can see how Margie has built a little fortress around him, both to keep him from rolling off the other side of the bed and to stop him from rolling onto my side.
So, here he is asleep in the morning after a different night. I also sleep with my iPhone within reach. I knew Jobe was about to wake up, so I pointed the iPhone camera at him and waited to see what would happen.
His eyes came open a little bit. He lifted his head a little bit...
..his head plunged back down into the covers. His eyes closed again...
...then he forced them open...
... but only for a couple of seconds...
...then he got to thinking he really ought to start his day...
...courageously, he lifted his groggy head...
...he looked around...
...some kind of pleasant, or perhaps mischievous, thought, went through his head. It looked like Jobe was about to get up for sure...
...then his head plunged back down. Still, he kept his eyes open...
...but only for a moment. The warm, pleasantness, of dreamland called back out to him...
...then, just like that, he popped up, a smile on his face. Jobe was ready to get up and play, raise some hell, make some mischief.
