The approach of winter - as I approach and depart my breakfast
Two mornings ago, I awoke from my mattress on the floor of the library in Kavelook school and peered out the window to see if this might be a good day for whaling. I saw that it had snowed during the night. That in itself would not get in the way of whaling, but the visibility was poor, the wind was picking up and by afternoon would be howling.
This pretty much put an end to my hope of being in Kaktovik for the final whale of the season.
I walked to breakfast at Waldo Arms, a short distance from the school.
I ate ham and eggs, visited the various people who had gathered for breakfast, then walked back, following the tracks I had left coming.
I am now in Barrow. I actually did take a fair number of photos in Kaktovik, plus I brought a few with me from the last time I had visited. As always seems to happen when I am traveling, other than Beau and the bear, I did not have time to post any little photo stories.
I am too exhausted to work on much of anything today, plus I am about to go out and do some visiting, but tomorrow, Sunday, I will see if I can hole myself up and put a couple of these stories together before I move into the rest of the week - which I anticipate to be a busy one.

Margie awoke to snow in Anchorage too! But the sun came out and it's gone now. Bet the boys had fun playing in it! Stay warm Bill!
Take it easy, Bill, with winter coming fast. Keep warm and fed and rested. Don't extend yourself too much on outside activities. Just concentrate on your project, keeping in touch with the family and getting energy from other good people where you are. Right about now, I always start annoying people with my annual spring is right around the corner predictions. When you are getting older, time really does fly and spring is always right around the corner. Love all the seasons, but especially love that first breath in the spring that says things are living and growing again.
Take VERY good care of yourself!
