Rex and Cortney come to finish the trim and give us a big surprise

Well, I had said I probably would not post until Tuesday, because today, for the first time since my surgery, I went off with my pro-cameras and not just my iPhone to do a real shoot, but not a strenous one. I had planned to stick with it until late this evening and then to continue it tomorrow. It was the first time I wore Levi's and a belt since my surgery. I have just been wearing pants that kind of look like pajama bottoms, but they would not have been appropriate for the shoot.

Fortunately, after just three hours of work, my belly hurt so bad where the open hole still remains in the oft-damaged incision site that I had to stop, pack up and make the long drive home.

I say, "fortunately," because when I got home, Rex and Cortney were finishing up putting new trim on the house. When they stopped, Rex said he had something to tell us.

He had popped the question to Cortney. She had said, "yes!"

Damn, that made me happy!

It made us all happy. We were laughing and hugging and kissing and I didn't have a camera within reach. So I ran out here to my office and grabbed one. Things had calmed down a bit by then, but everyone here was still very happy.

Then they kissed and we got even happier.

Rex had been carrying the ring around for awhile, not sure when he should propose. He even went jogging, with the ring in his jogging pants pocket. He left it there. Later, Cortney came by to pick some laundry and found the ring. She put it on.

When Rex came home she was wearing it. So Rex got down on one knee a bit ahead of time and proposed. That was when Cortney first realized it was an engagement ring.

The date has not yet been set.

Rex designed the ring himself.

I will be curious to see what the other part looks.

Now Margie and I get a great new daughter, our other children a great new sister, and Kalib, Jobe and Lynxton a wonderful aunt.

Wow, not only was Cortney caught off-guard, but so was Rex. What a great story to tell their future children.

As many here,Bill, I stumbled across your blog in 2008 and just never left.

Without leaving my house, you have taken me on journeys to places I have not yet been and taught me much of the native peoples of both Alaska and Arizona, But, at the center of it all is your family and I only wish well for them all.

Mazel Tov to Rex and Cortney. :)
