The view from the top of Ward's Hill
Today I did it. For the first time since June 28, one day before I went into surgery, I climbed to the top of Ward's Hill on my walk. It is an easy climb, nothing to boast about, yet it felt like a big accomplishment.
Now I will begin to think about what the view might look like from the top of Denali. May, 2014, maybe? No promise, but I am going to be thinking about it and trying to figure out how I might pull it off.
I also put my socks on by myself today. This was the first time I had done so since Margie drove me in to surgery in the very early morning of June 29.
It has now been about 43 hours since I last took a pain pill. The huge hole where my belly button used to be remains a gross and horrific sight but I am on my way.
I do not plan to post tomorrow, so this is it until Monday.

Glad to hear you're doing well... sounds like FINALLY the worst is over! Enjoy the weekend, but don't overdo :)
Bravo!!!
It's a wonderful thing to be able to put on one's own socks! (I will probably never ever be able to do that again and if I did, I would definitely celebrate.) Congratulations. Please don't overdo in your rush to complete recovery.
So proud of you. Wasilla's version of Rocky! :) Here's to a continued recovery!
Yay Bill! Just in case it's a bit early to do the Rock jumping-up-and-down, fist-pumping celebration, I'm doing it for you.
Bravo! You are doing it just right: small steps that add up big. Congratulations!
