What the heck: two more school buses and breakfast too

Well what the heck – two more school buses. I am back in Wasilla now. I suppose I should note that Margie and I did not have to go without breakfast. After we failed at McDonald's, we went down the road and there was absolutely no one in line at Carl's Jr. so we got our breakfast there. It turned out to be the kind of breakfast one would not have wanted to have waited in line for. Sometime today, I will still put up the posts from Saturday evening. Given the fact that we had family over all day yesterday, family was where I put all my attention.

The Daily School Bus: I dream of Bob Dylan and North Slope schools

Last night was a night of many dreams and awakenings, all spaced about one hour apart. The first dream was about Bob Dylan and it came not long after we went to bed about 12:30. He was doing a concert somewhere and singing,"Don't think twice, it's alright." Then he stopped by my hotel room to visit. I sat on one side of the room and he on the other, dressed in black. I looked straight into his face and it looked not as it looks now but as it looked 45 years ago – maybe 50. His hair was bushy, his eyes intense. "Goddam!" I stated emphatically. Then I woke up thinking I must've slept for hours but it was 1:30.

The next dream took place in a school in one of the villages on the North Slope. Again, I woke thinking I must've slept for hours but now it was 2:30 AM. So it went all through the night – me having dreams taking place in different schools in the villages of the North Slope and then waking up one hour after I had last woken from a dream until finally I got up about 8:30. I do not remember the details of any of these dreams, only that they happened and it seemed like in just about every village. As for this Daily School Bus, I saw it yesterday evening as I drove to Chugiak for the event on which I plan to report tonight.

The Daily School Bus: did any even roll today?

I wonder if today was a teacher in-service day? Or parent and teacher conference day? I just returned from my coffee break and I did not see a single school bus. Well, no matter. I have plenty of buses left over from earlier in the week and here is one of them. It looks like we won't be going to the movie after all tonight. We had planned to see, "12 Years a Slave," but it turns out it isn't playing anywhere around here.

The Daily School Bus: now they roll through my dreams

I have begun to dream about school buses. The first dream I recall came to me three nights ago. I was driving down the frontage road to the Parks Highway as it comes down the hill into Wasilla from the little mini-mall that houses Machaus Macintosh computer store and Sakura Sushi. It was dusk. From out of the dim glow of the fading sky a pair of headlights emerged and fell in close behind me. It was a school bus. Then another bus turned onto the road at the top of the hill and got in line behind the first bus. Both followed me down the hill. The next time I slept, I dreamed I was driving down a neighborhood road and saw a school bus pulled off the road. As I drew near I saw there was another bus beyond it and another beyond that and another beyond it... a line of school buses as far as I could see, all of them just sitting still at the side of the road.

I remember dreaming last night, but I can't remember anything specific.

As for this bus, I came upon it just a little bit ago about to cross the overpass to Fort Richardson as I drove to Anchorage to pick up Margie from her week of babysitting. I have now pulled into the driveway to the blue house. I will go inside and get her.

The Daily School Bus, number two: why not?

Who says there can only be one daily school bus in a day? Look around you! There are school buses rolling around everywhere! I just stopped for this one on Schrock Road, while sipping my afternoon coffee from Metro Cafe.
